Great Article on Raw Story about Religious Trauma

Great Article on Raw Story about Religious Trauma. Sounds like Gracepoint Fellowship (formerly Berkland Baptist Church) to me!!!

Those of you who are still suffering, please get help!

  2. Thank you. There is great value in feeling understood as well as hearing another logical voice through this blog.

I left 2 years ago and I'm so thankful to God that I'm doing well! I've learned so much about God and life these past 2 years and I'm confident that God will continue to love me and lead me in the next few years (I'm getting married soon and we are planning to move near my fiancee's church that is close to the poor).

Otherwise, I have mixed feelings about GP, especially when I hear that they are growing. I learned so much from them and became a born-again Christian there. At this point, I'm fairly certain I'm healed from the bitterness and anger that I had against them so I do wish the best for them and for God to bless them with Himself. However, I feel confused: Should I pray for them to grow and therefore advance the kingdom... at the cost of trauma and spiritual abuse on many? Or should I pray against their growth?

Anyway, this blog is still great because I'm certain there's corners of my heart that still need to come out into the light, be healed, and process what I've been through. So, thank you John for standing strong and for providing a resource with a level of depth and maturity for those of us who have left.

    1. You are welcome. Thank you for your comment. I pray that you continue to heal. As for GP, I do not mention that church in my prayers. I trust God is in control. I understand your conflicted feelings. It's not a simple situation. Blessings to you and your fiance as you create a new family. May God bless you richly and continue to be glorified through your life.
